Join us for a tour of the Sandhills Game Lands and get a close-up look at longleaf restoration. The Game Lands Longleaf pine forest has examples of spectacular old growth trees, natural regeneration, & native wire grass groundcover. All are the result of many years of prescribed fire! The tour will be led by forest biologists who were directly involved with the restoration of this public amenity. You will get a hands-on look at restoration tools, ranging from mechanical means to prescribed fire and learn about the transition to growing season or “lightning season” prescribed burning.
