Join the NC Wildlife Resources Commission to learn about bat biology, behavior, conservation needs, and the ecological services bats provide for the rest of us. We will simulate bat biologists as we mist net (fake) bats and determine the species, individuals affected by disease, and discover new characteristics of each bat species present on the coast. We will play some games to learn about bat migration and conservation concerns, followed by a hike at sunset to track bats with acoustic devices, reading their frequencies on a monitor as they forage overhead.
This event is family friendly. Free lodging available for registered participants.
