Take a hike with a park ranger and learn about the fascinating world of carnivorous plants that grow at Carolina Beach State Park. See plants that “bite back” such as sundews, bladderworts, butterworts, pitcher plants, and the Venus fly trap. Meet at the end of Nature Trail Lane.
Join members of the Forsyth Audubon Society and Park rangers as they count and document migrating raptors including hawks, falcons, eagles and osprey. Learn about the history of migrating raptors, and use a pair of binoculars to see them for yourself.

This workshop will focus on trout life history, habitat needs, and trout management in North Carolina with an emphasis on Brook Trout conservation. Participants will learn about general spin-fishing and fly-fishing methods, knot tying, fishing tips, trout regulations and finding places to go fishing.

Coastal North Carolina is home to many species of breeding birds, as well as species that migrate through the area on their way back to their wintering grounds further south. This workshop will consist of a hike through various habitats at Cool Springs to identify migrant and resident birds.
