2023 Scholarship Recipients
The N.C. Tree Farm Program has awarded three $500 scholarships to the children and grandchildren of certified Tree Farmers and one $500 scholarship to the child of a Tree Farm inspector. The scholarships are offered as a benefit of being a certified Tree Farmer and a Tree Farm inspector. The N.C. Tree Farm Program Board of Directors established the Tree Farmer scholarship in 2021 and the Inspector scholarship in 2023. Congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients pictured below, from left:
- Tara Henderson, daughter of Macon County Tree Farmer Starlett Henderson, will attend Western Carolina University.
- Charles Ramsey, co-owner of his family’s Moore County Tree Farm, will be a student at The University of the South.
- Will Rouse, grandson of Wilson County Tree Farmer William Thomas Lamm, III, will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
- Hannah Newton, daughter of Russ Newton of Rutherfordton, received the inaugural scholarship for the child or grandchild of a Tree Farm inspector. Hannah will attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
